SEO / GEO

Get found in Google — and in ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and Perplexity.

One integrated visibility strategy. Not a traditional SEO vendor and a separate "AI SEO" vendor sending you conflicting advice.

Search has split in two. Google still matters, but a growing share of your future customers are asking ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and Perplexity for recommendations before they ever open a search engine. Google's own AI Overviews are answering questions before anyone even clicks through to a website. Treating these as separate problems wastes budget and produces contradictory recommendations. We treat them as one visibility strategy.

Focused professional reviewing SEO and AI search visibility strategy

Why search and AI visibility can't be treated separately...

Google search is no longer just Google. In 2026, a majority of Google searches now end without a click at all, and a fast-growing share of the searches that used to start on Google now start in ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, or Perplexity instead. Winning "search" today means being cited by both — not choosing one.

Recent research puts the overall zero-click rate on Google at roughly 68%, and when an AI Overview appears on a query, that number jumps to around 83% — versus about 60% on a traditional results page. AI Overviews are now showing on more than one in five Google queries and climbing. Separately, AI-visibility research has found that domains with strong backlink authority appear in AI-generated answers roughly five times more often than lower-authority domains, which is exactly why off-site authority and technical foundation matter as much for GEO as they always have for SEO.

None of this means traffic is disappearing — it means the definition of "found" has split in two. That's the whole premise of treating SEO and GEO as one strategy instead of two invoices.

What this includes...

  • Technical foundation — the structured data, crawlability, and content architecture that both traditional search engines and AI models need to find, understand, and cite you.
  • Content built to be cited — content structured so that when someone asks an AI assistant a question in your category, your answer is the one it pulls from.
  • Off-site authority — the mentions, links, and third-party signals that build credibility with both search engines and AI training/retrieval systems.
  • Measurement that matches the medium — traditional rank tracking plus visibility tracking inside AI answers themselves, so you can see what's actually working.

Proof: two real engagements

IN PROGRESS

A multi-location law firm invested in a recent website redesign with another design firm. Since then, organic traffic, pipeline, and lead volume have all materially declined, with no in-house bandwidth to diagnose the cause or keep content current. We ran a full SEO/GEO audit and are fixing technical fallout from the redesign, building AI-trained content profiles from the firm's own attorneys' writing so new content matches each attorney's authentic voice, and closing off-site authority gaps — all fed by a recurring monthly competitive analysis loop. Two months in, early SEO/GEO signals are trending in the right direction; it's too early for hard traffic and pipeline numbers.

IN PROGRESS

A well-regarded healthcare device and software company, mature and respected in its market, had virtually no presence in AI-generated answers — tools like ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and Perplexity weren't surfacing or recommending them, despite the client's own prior attempts to fix it. We ran a full audit, resolved technical issues, and identified the five highest-leverage content opportunities against key competitors, which we wrote and delivered for the client to publish, along with a recommended monthly-to-quarterly content cadence tied to fresh competitive data. Two months in, technical and content fixes are underway; it's too early for hard visibility metrics.

Questions we hear...

What is GEO (generative engine optimization)?

GEO is the practice of structuring a website and its content so AI systems like ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, and Google AI Overviews can find, understand, and cite it in a generated answer — the same way SEO structures a site to rank in traditional search results, applied to how AI models retrieve and cite information rather than how they rank links.

Do I need to do SEO and GEO separately?

No — and treating them separately usually wastes budget. Both rely on the same technical foundation and the same off-site authority signals. Running them as one strategy, with one team, avoids the contradictory recommendations that come from a traditional SEO vendor and a separate "AI SEO" vendor working from different playbooks.

How is AI-citation tracked, since there's no "rank" in a ChatGPT answer?

By running a defined set of real prompts against the major AI assistants on a recurring basis and recording whether, and how, your brand gets mentioned or cited — a different measurement model than rank tracking, run alongside traditional rank tracking so you can see what's actually working.

Will Google AI Overviews kill my organic traffic?

They reduce clicks on many queries — recent data shows roughly an 83% zero-click rate when an AI Overview appears, versus about 60% on traditional results — but they don't eliminate the opportunity. Being the source an AI Overview cites is now part of the visibility game, alongside the traffic that still comes from queries that don't trigger one at all.

Not sure if it's a Google problem or an AI-visibility problem?

It's probably both. Let's talk through it in 30 minutes.
